During the 27 years I was employed at Metro, I essentially work in two separate positions. The first was in the Engineering group tasked with the purchase of new transit buses. This involved writing specifications, coordinating efforts with various other Metro departments (contracts, grants, transportation and operations), site inspections and the full technical and warranty support after delivery. The other position I held was as a Manager of one of Metros larger maintenance facilities. In his position, my responsibilities included planned production work for all aspects of heavy maintenance including engine re-building and installation, bus painting, the Metro Bus Midlife Program, the body shop, and other duties. I was a key member of the staff engaged in providing a safe work environment, proper instruction and training, assuring parts were available, and staff were managed.
