About Daniel Rigney
I'm a lifelong learner with over 10 years experience leveraging technology, data, and implementation science to tackle some of the biggest problems in education. I've held multiple leadership positions in education, managing as many as 120 staff at 130 campuses to serve almost 4,500 students. This required leveraging data systems effectively to manage assignments, track workload, detect patterns, and communicate information through data visualization. This also required empathetic but principled leadership to accomplish strategic goals and create a culture of excellence in the department. Public education is continuously having to do more with less, and I've had to find innovative ways to make it work. Faced with staff cuts, I deployed the automation framework Selenium using Javascript to automate work that was necessary to meet departmental goals. I developed multiple scripts to pull data from a variety of sources, validate, and clean the data. These automation scripts saved thousands of hours of work that previously was completed by individuals doing it manually. Digital storytelling is a skill that I've developed through my extensive presentation experience. It’s one thing to have the data, it’s another thing to present the data in a way that is digestible to consumers and presents a story that they can follow. I've spent considerable time collecting and analyzing data on various metrics important to school districts across Texas. I presented those findings to stakeholders along with an implementation plan for how to move those metrics in positive directions. Finally, I coach implementation of the plan using strategies from the field of implementation science.
