I am responsible for the day to day running and managing of domestic cleaning in a very busy academy school in Gloucestershire. I am responsible for managing 16 cleaning operatives and two team leaders. My day to day duties are varied depending upon the needs of the school and having to react and be proactive in a demanding and changing environment. Ensuring staff have the correct chemicals, equipment and training to carry out their duties to the required contract standard. I am also very hands on and am not afraid to get stuck in, I always lead by example pushing the team to the next level. My other duties include completing staff time sheets, emails, audits, ordering chemicals, training new staff, staff meetings, completing return to work interviews, COSHH, first aid, DBS checks, interviewing potential candidates, checking new starter paperwork, tool box talks, supporting the prep for deep cleaning and liasing with the account manager. I started off working on the shop floor on the lighting department and customer service desk straight from leaving school at the age of 16. I worked on various departments gaining knowledge in order to progress to the next level. In 2007 I moved behind the scenes to a department called Home Stock control where I was responsible for the running of the audit team. In 2007 I moved behind the scenes to a department called Home Stock control where I was responsible for the running of the audit team. My duties included dealing with paperwork, mainframe systems, central sample sales, VBS till systems, debits, stock control, reductions, overcoding, parcel force, inter branch transfers, lss stock, cmo stock, ice counts, fixture counts, price changes, high value stock counts, explained and unexplained wastage. I also used to drive the home delivery van and supported the waitrose food delivery department when they were short handed. I was a partner voice representative for my department for three years and also a sponsor helping new starters and also rolling out any new training or system updates to staff. In 2012 a team called ENF extended non food was set up when John Lewis lines were being sourced through Waitrose selling systems. A team of 7 of us were responsible for rolling out this project across the store which took 6 months to do, this is where my specialist knowledge came in moving away from a John Lewis system into the new Waitrose system. I competed my supervisor training and was then put forward for team leader training which ran for 12 months and successfully completed the course. Show less
