Duties include a variety of job tasks both in office and in the field. My main position is as a technician, travelling to multiple locations on any given day to service various fitness equipment. I am required to learn the mechanical and electrical layout of all makes and models of fitness equipment, both in terms of hardware and software. This is needed to perform diagnostics, repairs or maintenance on any piece of fitness equipment. This also requires an in-depth knowledge of a variety of tools needed as every manufacturer uses different shapes and sizes of parts and hardware. Some locations can be as far away as 3 hours drive and require special site-specific training. I handle creating repair estimates for all of my clients as well as assisting with estimates for other technicians. I also supervise a small team of two techs in assisting them in learning their craft and expanding their abilities beyond simply a repair technician, to cross train them on other responsibilities including sales and estimates. I am tasked as a technician to assemble and dissemble equipment for installs. When needed, I sometimes go to different departments to assist as necessary, including marketing/sales (cold calls, site surveys for quotes and general estimations), as well as within the office to handle phones calls (general customer service) and scheduling of jobs. Finally, I handle organization of supplies inventory and ordering, and organization of equipment databases for over 500+ maintenance contracted commercial customers.
