Ensuring syslog archival solution systems are actively collecting logs and have sufficient space free to support log retention requirements at HQ and among detachments. Recruited by company to provide subject matter expert on Windows Servers, Active Directory, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems in support of Big Data implementation. Leveraging past experience and my time from Red Hat allowed me to fully integrate all of their new Big Data systems along withh exsisting Linux systems into Active Directory to fully leverage a single source for authentication.Spearheaded the introduction and implementation of Ansible and Ansible Tower for server configurations. This migrated the IRS systems away from a by hand configuration per server to a single source of repeatable configurations. While also leveraging an implementation of GitLab to ensure all configurations are version controlled to ensure all systems are utilizing the latest revisions. Due to the nature of systems and data that they are processing worked closesly with the enterprise security team to increase system security compliance on both Windows and Linux systems. Increased the compliance on windows systems from 55% to 90% to gain a passing score. This was achieved by utiliziling existing group policies and implementing new policies without affecting production systems. Linux systems were implemented with security at build time through the use of configuration scripts during system install to maintain overall an overall security compliance rate of 90% during security scans. This included a rolling maintenance schedule to handle all patching requirements on the Windows Servers and the planning, building, and implementation of a Red Hat Satellite Server to handle all of the Linux systems.Planned and implemented a highly available virtual infrastructure to provide for the core support services. This reduced the need for physical systems since historically they were all physical systems. This reduction and consolidation also allowed for a more streamlined backup procedure while allowing for more physical systems to be allocated to the big data project.

Joined Red Hat due to my interest in working with open source and Linux systems. Traveled weekly to client sites to work with the personnel, requirements, missions, and how Red Hat can help. Worked primarily with clients in the DoD and public sector in Northern VA and Boston.Worked directly with client personnel to implement, leverage, and introduce new Red Hat products to meet their long term vision and mission goals. Trained personnel on site to ensure the continuity of operations once the consulting period with Red Hat was done. While building a personable working relationship with the client to ensure they have a contact at Red Hat should they have an issue. This way it ensures that someone familiar with their unqiue configuration can direct them to proper people within Red Hat for more personalized support.Directly worked with key stakeholders at the client sites to work towards their long term goals. This included such activities as security compliance, leveraging or implementing the proper technology, and helping to setup and deploy proof of concept systems for how other Red Hat products can benefit them. Also helped move client's off expensive 3rd party integration products like Quest Authentication Services and instead leverage Red Hat Identity Management (IdM).

Initially brought on board due to my knowledge and work in both Windows and Linux to work on an Incident Response Team in a large enterprise of 10000+ servers both physical and virtual. During my time on the Incident Response Team I was able to handle and resolve most issues within 30 minutes. Also created and implemented new procedures for updating the local Administrator account on windows systems. This new procedure moved away from doing it by to a Power Shell script that would systematically complete it for all systems.After proving myself I was moved to the Infrastructure Architecture team where I was in charge of the production like lab environment. This was a smaller version of our production environment that contained 300+ physical and virtual systems. By taking my knowledge from my time in strictly production I was able to bring all the processes and procedures to the lab environment. This allowed me lead a team of 5 individuals responsible for managing it while training over 400 personnel in the production personnel processes and procedures. This significantly reduced the time to productivity by 70% once they got their security clearance.Spearheaded the team that was responsible for all proof of concept work and looking at alternatives to in place products. One of the changes was the migration away form Quest Authentication Services to the use of Red Hat Identity Management. The implementation across all environments saved the enterprise $2 million in yearly licensing costs.Worked with all the necessary teams to implement a version controlled document library. This ensured that all necessary documentation covering all aspects of a system or product are centralized in one spot. This greatly reduced the time when working with security on ensuring compliance with the enterprise security requirements.

Recruited by Rollout Systems to provide Inforamtion Assurance (IA) guidance for 5 military trainer systems. This included all aspects of documentation, configuration, and working closely with the Information Assurance team. Working closely with the IA team I was able to get all 5 systems through accreditation.In order to facilitate the collaboration with on site personnel I established a version tracking document library on the SharePoint server to house all IA related documentation. This allowed me to work closely with the key personnel who need to provide input, review, and make changes to any aspect of the required IA package.

Recurited while on terminal leave from the US Navy based on rating. Based on previous experience worked with US Navy trainer systems to do Information Assurance accreditation. Responsible for racking and stacking equipment as it arrived on site and inventory. Worked closely with on site IA team to start the process for accreditation on established US Navy trainer systems on site. Took system from existing and upcoming planned version to have a completed interim authority to test accreditation since it was still in proof of concept phase. Established all necessary documentation, processes, and procedures required for compliance with US Navy IA program. Created a reusable template starting point for future trainer systems based on work with the existing system. It required the configuration for all Linux and Windows systems as part of the process, routine network security scanning, reviewing and reporting the results of the scans.Took the work done at the government site back to the local corporate compnay office. This allowed me to work with on site IT personnel to provide a process and procedure for a more secure corporate computing environment. Worked closely to integrate existing Linux systems into Active Directory to provide a streamlined access method across the company.

Joined the US Navy out of high school in 2001. Orginially joined as a Cryptologic Technician Communication performing systems administration afloat and ashore. During deployment onboard the USS Theodore Roosevel CVN-71 provided battlegroup afloat system administration subject matter expert. During deployement established PKI, external website, and processes and procedures for all manner of day to day operations required. Along with performing preventative maintenance on various Navy systems while in support of ongoing operations. After deployment was selected for CTN rating based upon performance while deployed. Completed one tour on the US Navy Red Team performing Information Warfare activities. Activities included Leading a workcenter of 18 sailors performing remote penetration testing and physical access testing of US Navy commands. Honorably discharged in 2008.
