I compose solo, chamber and orchestral music and seek to be active across several genres. As a human being of mixed Latin American ethnicity, I seek to bring to the world the rich and diverse music of our indigenous, folk and popular music to the concert stage. As an educator, I avidly seek to provide an environment for composers and performers to assert their own creative voices based on an exploration of their own musical vocabularies, stylistic predispositions, cultural values and life experiences. As the program leader of our composition program at the Sydney Conservatorium University of Sydney, I oversee our three undergraduate streams, BMus(Composition), Composition for Creative Industries, and Digital Music and Media, as well as our Masters, and Doctoral programs. During my tenure in this position, I have collaborated with my peers to develop these degrees so that they afford our students with courses that focus on a high degree of compositional craft, apposite workflow, industry acumen, as well as providing them with access to professional collaborations and opportunities.I am proud to say that we work as a team, supporting each other professionally and checking in with our wellbeing. I’m also proud of our outstanding and motivated students.
