I am a passionate martial artist whose dream is to give as many individuals as possible the opportunity to explore, study, and benefit from martial studies. My system, NamiBujutsu (www.wavemartialarts.com), is a civilian self-defense method. Its development is on-going and incorporates everything I have ever learned in martial arts, exercise science, psychology and philosophy. The end result is a highly practical system that allows students to take back their freedom. Freedom from anxiety, fear, stress and poor health. Zen practice is deeply integrated into this martial system. It can be said that Nami Bujutsu is a practice of Zen and Zen is a practice of Nami Bujutsu. You can read more about this integration on my website under the Zen and Nami Bujutsu section.My Martial Arts Bio:I began studying Seiei Kan Jujutsu in Cuyahoga Falls, OH 25 years ago at the age of 5 years old under Shihan Larry Zahand. Seiei Kan was founded in 1959 by Grandmaster Donald Madden and is a blended curriculum of Jujutsu and Shotokan karate. Bushido plays a very significant role in the Seiei Kan curriculum and its characteristics are deeply ingrained in its students. By the age of 13, I was regularly leading classes for all ages and ranks and a highly decorated competitor. In 1999, I participated in the AAU Nationals (sparring, Silver medal) and AAU Jr. Olympics (sparring, Bronze medal). After being accepted to The Ohio State University, I promptly joined the OSU Shotokan Karate Club. I served as President of the organization for 2 years. It was during these formative years that I actively practiced Bokator (Khmer Boxing), Wing Chun, Kyokushin, and Kenjutsu (Japanese Swordsmanship).

By utilizing our stand-alone system, universities can quickly deploy models for efficiently evaluating visiting scholars, allowing for reductions in time and cost while increasing quality and gaining an opportunity for revenue generation.We accomplished this by building on methods developed at The Ohio State University. Our innovative student and scholar portfolios add a new dimension to evaluating academic talent. Our platforms provide all the necessary tools to assess international students and scholars: a video portfolio system, a standardized evaluation rubric, and a secure, digital archive.We recognize that the needs for evaluating visiting scholars (J-1 visa) and international students (F-1 visa) differ. In response, we have created two distinct and unique platforms: Great Scholars for J-1 visiting scholars and Great Students for F-1 international students.

In the SUNI Recruitment Manager role I provide support to the INTO North America recruitment team with a focus on ensuring the successful global launch of new programs and initiatives.This included participating in work group meetings, advising various groups on the interests of international markets, analyzing historical global recruitment performance to best understand how to structure international programs and conducting surveys and organizing feedback to help direct business activities.

As a consultant to INTO University Partnership's Global Recruitment Unit I was tasked with a series of projects to identify strengths and weaknesses in the current state of global recruitment. Each project required a different set of analyses to be conducted on large sets of data, surveys of related parties across the global network, and written analytical reports of the findings and suggestions to present to senior management and university boards. In addition I always collected information regarding international GPA calculations and created automated GPA conversion tools (both in Excel and using Python) to allow for increased accuracy in assessing a student's appropriateness for IUP's various programs.

As the USA Recruitment Manager for Beijing and North China, I am responsible for Sales, Marketing, Branding, and student recruitment activities for all INTO US partner universities in the Northern China and Beijing region (13 provinces). This includes agent trainings and follow-up services, attendance at international student recruitment fairs, acting as liaison between intermediaries and centers, event and schedule organisation, and all other activities related to promoting partner centers in market to realise an increase in enrolments from China.

The Midwest U.S.-China Flagship Program at The Ohio State University prepares students to work in China and work with Chinese to achieve shared goals with focuses on the cultural aspects of communication. Performance (doing is knowing) is emphasized at every stage of learning advanced skills in Chinese language and culture. The program coordinator's responsibilities include coordinating program operation, compiling and editing student profiles, data management, web site administration, project management and promotional activities.

At Hunan International I interned full-time in the programming department where my main job was to add English subtitles to Chinese television shows. Working in a fast-paced, deadline oriented, Chinese language environment greatly enhanced my professional Mandarin capabilities and prepared me for future roles. During this internship I also had multiple opportunities to participate in interviews and game shows on Hunan International TV.
