Technical Account Manager

Senior Technical Account Manager

Springfield, Or

In my current role as a Technical Account Manager (TAM) I am responsible for maintaining our Data Center Security and Cloud Workload Protection products for specific customers. All of my customers are either Fortune 500 companies or Government agencies. My primary responsibility is to keep the customer happy at (nearly) all costs. This can be quite difficult as the products I support span all Operating Systems and Environment types. A single phone call can involved AIX, Windows 98, and Ubuntu issues so one must be fast on his feet to keep up. As the product controls interactions at the Kernel level it is also very important that I understand how the entire ecosystem functions so I can prevent catastrophic policy choices. My skill-set includes both technical and social capabilities being utilized at the highest level, often in heavily charged situations.

Technical Support Engineer

Springfield, Or

My previous duties with Symantec involved:-Helping customers troubleshoot and secure their networks -Supporting multiple Messaging and Cyber Security products, and backing up Key Accounts in the implementation and maintenance of same-Assessment and providing analysis of network infrastructure security for both Government entities and large scale, Fortune 500 companies. -Primary focus at this point was our Messaging Security and Web Gateway products.

Jul 2011 - Jul 2014

Onsite/Remote Technician

Self Employed Sub Contractor

I have worked with a couple local computer support and service groups over the last few years. I do generalized tech support for business and home users in the evening hours to supplement my income and keep my skills sharp. I have always enjoyed the challenge of removing viruses and some of the people you meet can be incredible! I have worked for everything from retired Nike execs to a guy who was certain the CIA had attached something in his computer to monitor what he is....and this is true...thinking!As anyone that has worked as a onsite technician can tell you this is likely one of the most demanding positions in the industry. You have to be able to work in ALL operating systems going as far back as win 3.1 and have working knowledge of the ins and outs of these OS's. If it doesn't work, you need to know how to make it work. If it's not possible you need to know how to explain it to someone and still get paid at the end of the job. I did this work solely for a couple years until medical reasons forced me to take a desk job with benefits. I currently have a active, and select, customer base of close to 250.

Jan 2004 - Jul 2011

Tech Support/Customer Service

Mylittlesalesman

My responsibilities include:Buying and configuring new domain namesSetting up DNSManaging mail using a Zimbra server (formerly Imail)Importing large inventory batches into a database, usually after modifying source data.Fielding and dealing with customer issues and complaintsTranslating between neophyte users and in house developersUsing Trac to document issues and develop wiki pages to maintain processes

Dec 2007 - Apr 2011

It Specialist

In this position I assisted the IT Manager in maintaining the local company network and hardware. The majority of my duties involved working directly with other employees to educate them on using our software packages and general repair and maintenance. At times I would be asked to fly to other sites and assist during large projects. The location I worked at closed and I was forced to move on.
