My role at the Artsxchange college is a behavior mentor for children that have been excluded permanently or struggle to behave and study in mainstream schools. This college is an alternative provision, my responsibilities were the following:• Conducting one-to-one mentoring sessions with SEN pupils suffering from severe autism, ADHD, global delay and more.• Develop strategies for pupils to better manage their behavior both inside and outside of their education lives.• Drawing up action plans for learners such as preparing them for life beyond school, applying for jobs and creating CV’s.• Keeping track of pupil progress and monitoring behavior, giving regular feedback to parents on how we can improve the children’s behavior and attendance.• Organising lunchtime activities such as football, Dance and games for pupils who display challenging behavior during breaks.This role is incredibly rewarding on a personal level as I truly believe that every student whether SEN or not, can reach full potential and the results are very rewarding working with students in need. besides my role as a behavior mentor, I have been teaching functional skills math’s for pupils aged 14-19 at entry level 1,2,3, Level 1,2 and 3.
