My name is Daniel Sanchez. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Physics from UCI and have recently earned a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Much of my life has been spent in school, with my free time spent pursuing hobbies and spending time with friends and family. I have formal engineering and optical research experience and my dedication to learning and to completing a task, as well as my experience with research projects and medical device R&D demonstrate my level of dedication and my strong work ethic.At UCI, I wrote a Senior Thesis on Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) with the help of Dr. Aaron Barth. My research used data from the WISE and KAIT telescopes to provide evidence that Seyfert 2 type galaxies had periodic changes in brightness similar to Seyfert 1 galaxies. My research was documented in a senior thesis as part of my graduation requirement. At CSUF, I worked with Dr. Salvador Mayoral on an audio localization project that uses both the delay-and-sum beamforming and Minimum Variance Distortionless Response beamforming methods to locate an object in space using a microphone array. This project was also a requirement for graduation. I was able to successfully use both beamforming methods to locate a test sound source in 1D, 2D, and 3D space. I have also had success locating two different RC helicopters in space by the sound of the propellers using delay and sum beamforming. I presented my findings to a counsel of three professors at CSUF on December 12, 2017 and was informed that my research was worthy of a Masters Degree.My work at RxSight has taught me the use of general optical testing techniques. I've improved the efficiency of data analysis in my department, and have lent my skill in Python, Excel, and MatLAB to assist other departments with data analysis. I have written detailed work instructions on the use of a wavefront measuring device (LambdaX's NIMO device), the proper use of a GUI I wrote in Python for reduction of measured wavefront data, and have trained others on the use of the NIMO device, data analysis and reduction, and the use of company developed equipment (the RxSight Light Delivery Device). My work at RxSight has contributed towards securing FDA approval for improvements and updates to the Light Adjustable Lens.
