At Sugino Machine Ltd, I am working with a great team of manufacturing machine tool developers to create a new line of equipment that is an alternative to conventional shot peening. We are also testing new CNC surface finishing machines for additive manufactured metal parts, all based on harnessing water cavitation methodology found in nature (e.g. the colorful mantis shrimp's "weapon of choice") and applying it for automated industrial processing. Water is not only a renewable resource, but it is also the cleanest and most abundant natural solvent on Earth. For Boeing, I worked as a manufacturing technologist for the creation of new technologies for the fabrication of aircraft and jet engines, primarily working with titanium alloys. My key technical work areas have been in the development of new titanium alloys, superplastic forming, diffusion bonding, friction stir welding (titanium), laser welding, machining, design of CRES and ceramic tooling, machine design, control system architecture, shot peening, laser shock peening, fine particle peening, cavitation peening, cavitation abrasive surface finishing and peening, aircraft assembly, tooling, welding, heat treating, thermo-mechanical processes, titanium alloys, robotics and similar manufacturing related joining technologies. I currently hold 27 U.S. patents and many more are pending. I have worked on many cooperative research projects with other aerospace companies, titanium producers, government laboratories, universities and global based research centers.My personal interest is in working my family's hard rock gold mines, which are located in the Swauk Mining District of the North Central Cascades of Washington State.
