I manage a team that addresses third party risks at Scotiabank and ensure all third party activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations as well as internal policies and procedures. Acting as a first line of defense on risk matters in the U.S., I partner with business units, operations, technology and other stakeholders to obtain key data on third party relationships and respond to inquiries from regulators, internal audit and senior management. I am responsible for overseeing contract remediation and analysis of performance criteria in vendor contracts as well as analysis of material incidents involving third parties. I also participate in the formulation of policies and procedures addressing third party risk management. In addition, I am an experienced labor and employment law attorney who focuses on minimizing the risk of costly lawsuits through counseling, education and training. I have extensive experience resolving employment and labor matters for both public and private sector clients as well as providing management coaching and training in harassment law and complaint procedures. I also engage in neutral fact-finding for companies with existing complaint procedures. I have mediated employment law disputes and served as an arbitrator for FINRA.For six years I was a dispute resolution and employment law specialist with the pharmaceutical company Pfizer in Manhattan. In that capacity, I partnered with senior line leadership and human resource teams in many ways, including investigation of complex discrimination and harassment matters, providing risk analyses to reduce the possibility of costly and disruptive litigation and advising on conflict management and diversity matters to promote productive work environments. I earned a certification in managerial excellence from the American Management Association and hold an advanced certificate in conflict resolution from the Cornell School of Industrial & Labor Relations. I am a member of the New York, New Jersey and District of Columbia bars. I am also a member of the Federal District Court for the District of New Jersey, the District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
