Oversaw construction activities and quality control and was responsible to observe and maintain safety and verify safety training. Had stop work authority for safety, quality, and deviation from design. Evaluated change order requests, provided input on progress toward milestones as a function of measurement for payment, and evaluated schedule progress. Individual Project Descriptions:The Integrated Waste Treatment Unit (IWTU) is a 500 million dollar, multi-year construction project built in South East Idaho at the Idaho National Laboratory for the Department of Energy. The project was started in late 2007 with excavation to bedrock. After 2 years of being delayed by harsh winters, it was decided to place the project inside a heated inflatable tent. This facilitated the placement of the foundation concrete for approximately half of the facility through the 2009-2010 winter. The tent was removed in April of 2010. The project schedule was aggressive and required placement of concrete and flatwork in cold weather for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 winter conditions wherein heating and tenting was required as well as monitoring of the concrete temperatures for both the 14-foot concrete shielding walls and super flat floors in the product storage building.Calcine Disposition Project. Design lead and civil engineering subject matter expert (SME). Project cost; design phase to date, $25 million. System lead over the shipping, transportation and civil systems. Shipping cask selection.Design of cask handling equipment including crane, storage racks, lifting devices, etc. Rail and road transportation system design.Interface with transportation companies such as Union Pacific Rail Road to identify rail capacities and routes to an MGR. General civil site design. Presentation options for interim storage to DOE evaluating use of concrete cask over-packs verses traditional interim storage facilities.

Company services included water and sewer system design, sewage treatment and disposal design, land development, planning, storm water systems, road design, structural design, sub-surface utilities, reinforced concrete and steel rigid frame design, residential and general civil engineering. Acted as the clients representative to interface with contractors and government agencies. Provided project engineering and quality control for designs released for construction and was the main interface with contractors for the client during construction. Tasks included controlling the construction budget and associated schedule activities as necessary and ensuring the project was built to approved plans. Daniel worked on a variety of construction projects wherein he completed the design and served as the Resident Engineer for the construction. The resident engineer responsibilities included being onsite to oversee construction, performing inspections, managing quality control firms for the owner, and making reports to local and state agencies with regards to the city, state and environmental compliance requirements.
