As a COI Analyst I review investigator Financial Interest Reports and determine if any conflicts of interest exist with regard to their research. This requires me to gather and organize data that I use for meetings and presentations. I also compile meeting minutes and complete other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

While completing my MS in this lab, I designed a modification to an existing elliptical to assist in gait rehabilitation. I taught the course “Instrumentation in Motion Analysis” to graduate students in the Rehabilitation Exercise and Movement Sciences (REMS) program at VCU. This required that I prepared the lesson plan and lab procedures for each week. In the course I taught about different types of sensors and their applications in human research.

My project team is designing, fabricating, and testing a microfluidic device to measure the concentrations of different bioanalytes in Cancer Borealis. I have learned many different research techniques including microfluidic device fabrication, photolithography techniques, spin coating, and fluorescent imaging, but also the importance of documentation and presenting your progress.

As an examiner I go to the residence's of people who are applying for life insurance and give them an exam to determine their health. The exam includes taking account of medical history, measuring height, weight, and blood pressure, and taking blood and urine samples.

During my internship I was performing photolithography techniques on several different liquid and thin film photoresists which required me to learn procedures quickly since each photoresist required different parameters when working with them. I used different types of instruments to complete my research such as a spin coater, laminator, and mask aligner. I researched the physical and structural properties of solar panels, focusing on a solar panel from Solyndra. This required the creating of circuit boxes and other jigs in order to get all day multiple solar panel measurements. I also learned how to use different electrical equipment such as data loggers and data acquisition meters.

As a youth soccer referee I enforced the rules of the game through blowing the whistle to stop play of the game or if I was the assistant referee, alert the center referee to stop play by raising my flag. The ultimate goal was to keep the players safe while playing the game as well as from the outside environment such as parents, field condition, or weather condition.

I managed the forms and equipment for the youth sports camp each week. I was also responsible for instructing the kids in the different sports as well as the coaches on what was expected of them each day
