I'm a backend software engineer with experience in dynamic, AI-powered startup environments such as nPlan, an AI-driven tech startup backed by Google and Datarobot, a major platform for generative AI. I have a proven track record of modernizing legacy code, enhancing system observability, and delivering full-stack features using Python, TypeScript, Golang, and GraphQL.Here's a summary of some of the work I've delivered during my career as a backend engineer:- Delivered numerous overhauls and updates of parts of legacy code in Python and TypeScript, including writing unit tests (raising coverage from 0% to 90% in select parts of the codebase), updating or removing old dependencies and breaking down hard coded logic into scalable components.- Enabled visibility of errors and enabled extraction of health metrics for codebases which had no actionable metrics by expanding observability and telemetry tooling and implementing it throughout various services with use of tools like Opentelemetry and Grafana Cloud.- As part of building a self-serving product experience for clients, delivered various features 'from top to bottom' implementing both the backend logic and data interfaces in Python and Golang, as well as expanding the API layer in TypeScript and GraphQL to accommodate the new additions.- To reduce manual work and effort from client facing teams, productised several algorithms and python notebooks into GCP pipelines (Vertex AI) that called and ran programmatically. - Assured quick responses to product team requests by working closely with the teams to incorporate client feedback, whether quality of life improvements, critical bug fixes or requested features.- Lead and was responsible for the internal support organization while getting hands on with the codebase to fix issues myself on a daily basis. - Successfully reduced the average time the engineering team spends on support work by around 35% by developing more efficient support and metric gathering processes.
