Position: Principal Investigator Project Title: A smartphone-based decision support tool to stimulate cyclone mitigation Project Overview: Housing vulnerability to severe wind events is a strong contributor of insured loss in Queensland, which results in premium affordability issues for consumers. A significant reduction in this vulnerability enables a corresponding reduction in pricing for consumers. The primary goal of this project was to develop a user-friendly tool for stimulating severe wind loss mitigation investment (e.g., roofing upgrades, window protection, etc.) by Queensland homeowners. Development of the tool was informed by research in the civil engineering, behavioral science and computer science disciplines.
