As the Avionics Team Lead for the University of Pittsburgh's rocketry team I am leading a team of multidisciplinary engineers in the design, testing and construction of the avionics system of a high powered rocket. As a team lead I am responsible for monitoring the design progress, assigning tasks, and reviewing designs. I have also lead the writing of the team proposal and preliminary design report for the NASA student launch competition.In addition to my management role, I have also been heavily involved in the hardware design process. I am designing three printed circuit boards: one for the flight computer, air break system, and the ground control computer. These boards will be at the core of the avionics system for this years launch vehicle.

As a Member of Pitt Rocketry I have helped design, build, and test the GPS and ground control systems for a high powered rocket designed to compete at NASA's Student Launch Competition. I have worked specifically on a MATLAB GUI designed to process flight data in real time and send commands to the flight computer. I have also contributed to multiple design reviews approved by NASA.

Working in the lab of Dr. Tae Min Hong, I focused on various FPGA based tasks. I was funded in part by a NASA Pennsylvania Space Grant Consortium Research Scholarship. My tasks and accomplishments include the following:▪ Collaborated with other CERN researchers to implement pileup suppression algorithms in firmware▪ Utilized Vivado High-Level Synthesis (HLS) to implement multiple algorithms for solving a linear system of equations using a Xilinx FPGA.▪ Developed a Python-based testbench to analyze and verify the performance of algorithms in firmware▪ Designed an automated implementation process for boosted decision trees in firmware using Python and Vivado HLS▪ Synthesized C++ code for Vivado HLS using PythonThe attached poster was presented virtually at the April 2020 APS meeting.

As a First Year Engineering Teaching Assistant I assist incoming engineering students as they learn fundamental engineering software and problem-solving skills. My responsibilities are as follows: • Assist during lectures, including proctoring quizzes and exams (4 hours per week) • Hold office hours to assist students with C, MATLAB, JavaScript, HTML, and Excel (2 hours per week) • Grade student tests, quizzes, and homework (5-8 hours per week) • Resolve grading issues with students and promptly respond to student communications
