As result, changed customer ordering system and implemented a Kanban / Supermarket system. Eliminated 500K pounds from Finished Goods Inventory while adding 250K pounds of WIP and Raw Inventory to cover for potential problem areas. Overall inventories were reduced from 2.4M pounds to 1.8M pounds on comparable shipments by employing Lean concepts.• TPM: Managed FWT’s initiation and progression through Total Productive Maintenance. Utilized Fuss and O’Neill for training and implementation of TPM. Managed 4 TPM events, 4 Set-up Reduction events, and numerous 5-S events.• Achieved overall plant yield of 85% (new record) by committing to Continuous Improvement.

Guided the operation as a non-bargaining unit.• Safety: In 2007, achieved second best safety record in Olin Brass, improving from a below average safety record in 2005, by placing major emphasis on Hazard Assessment (weekly meetings) and encouraging employee participation in the Safety Program.• Customer Satisfaction: Placed major emphasis on quality and on-time performance. Set goals for achieving <1% Returned Goods and +99% On-Time performance, achieving both by 2007.• Lean Manufacturing: Managed FWT’s introduction and training in Lean Manufacturing concepts. Benchmarked a few companies and began journey into the application of Lean building blocks. Initiated contract with Missouri Enterprise to lead and train in Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, SUR, 5S and TPM, resulting in the development and implementation of a Continuous Improvement (CI) program that would later prove invaluable.• Achieved record overall plant yield of 84% (previous record was 79%) by standardizing all roll settings during the set-up process. This process change was accomplished via CI efforts.• Engineered and implemented a Capital Improvement Project at a cut to length saw that doubled production and reduced crew size from 2 to 1, and improved yield from 91% to 98%+. Capital investment of $150K was paid for in 1 year.• Significantly reduced overall inventory (3.8M pounds to 2.4M pounds) while maintaining the same annual shipment level by analyzing inventory carrying costs and scrap costs and deciding accordingly.

Lead all major analytical initiatives as directed by Senior Management.• Managed major cost reduction initiative (brought to Olin Brass by Accenture Consultants) called FOCUS for several operations within Olin Brass (Mill Products, Fabricating, Fineweld Tube and Somers / Waterbury Rolling Mills). FOCUS program resulted in annual savings of $20M for Olin Brass.• Managed several economic analyses relating to shuttering operations and relocating equipment, producing product at different locations, or walk away from business. Resulted in shutting down one business and relocating select equipment, and keeping another with a refocused manufacturing strategy.

Developed and managed Profit Improvement Program (PIP) for Olin Brass. Program became a mainstay at Olin Brass due to its success.• Managed all major Capital Justifications at Olin Brass. Managed economic analysis of the largest Capital project to that time – $30M+. Economic analysis accurately projected cash benefits of the project and resulted in a successful full implementation.• Developed Manufacturing and Maintenance budgets accounting for more than 1,000 workers. Developed and managed charging rates, production standards, and the Standard Cost System. This provided extensive knowledge and understanding of cost drivers in manufacturing processes.• Provided analytical support to numerous profitability studies by customer, by product, by alloy, etc., facilitating key strategic decisions by Senior Management.
