Professor of Microbiology at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow working on understanding bacteriocin mechanism of action and translational development of bacteriocins as therapeutics. Mostly interested in colicins, klebicins and pyocins targeting E. coli, K. pneumoniae and P. aeruginosa, respectively. Also interested in bacteriocins targeting bacterial plant pathogens in particular Pectobacterium and Pseudomonas spp.Also co-founder of Glox Therapeutics:Glox Therapeutics is an antibiotic drug discovery company, progressing novel antimicrobial therapeutic proteins towards the clinic to improve human health. The company is developing novel antimicrobials, based on Glox's proprietary protein bacteriocin engineering platforms. These bacteriocins will specifically treat critical priority drug-resistant Gram-negative bacterial pathogens identified by the WHO.
