Director of the Elton John Aids Foundation Social Impact CIC, delivering one of the worlds most exciting Social Impact Bonds / performance based contract. The CIC is contracting with Hospitals, GP Commission Groups and community groups in a program to test individuals in Lambeth, Lewisham and Southark and help individuals testing positive with HIV move onto treatment programs which will in time reduce the new incidence of HIV to zero.The Social Impact Bond overcomes structural difficulties associated with multi-agency responsibility for HIV testing and provides incentives for postive outcomes. Although still in early days, results have been impressive and we have already learnt much from delivering the contract which will be directly transderable to other geographies.

Managing 7 funding streams totalling £27m, relationships with 160 investees and 10 funding partners• Primary Credit Officer for BII Lending Function• Budget responsibility, generating 40% of BII’s revenues and 60% of its surplus• Lead executive for the Charity “BII Trust”, responsible for implementing strategy and Board reporting• Management of Investment Directors, Investment Managers and Operations ManagerKey Achievements• Team was recognised as the market leader due to volume and quality of investments made. Team deployed 71 investments totalling £7.1m in FYE 2018 (an increase from 15 investments totalling £1m in 2014, the year before I took over)• Fundraised £12m • Delivered growth that exceeded KPI’s set by Board – increased income by 400% between 2015 to 2018, turning loss making department into profitable enterprise• Successfully launched five new funding streams:- Access Fund: Deployed £5m fund in 18 months. Fund is best-in-class in a difficult market achieving higher interest rates than peers (8% vs 7.29%) and lower bad debt (1% vs 5%). BII was offered follow-on funding (a further £4m)- London Affordable Housing Fund: Fully committed £10m fund to create 100 affordable homes. - Access Reach: Accessed £1m in investment-readiness grants for 80 social investees. Used this fund strategically to market other funds- Big Issue Invest Trust: Launched £200k grant pilot to deliver business support to social enterprises- Regional Growth Fund; £3m fund building on previous program managed between 2014 and 2016 which created 600 jobs and generated 8% returns / 0.9% annualised bad debt

Worked for Simon Hughes, MP for Bermondsey, doing research and responding to constituent’s questions. Bermondsey was ward with second highest proportion of people living in social housing in England. Helped constituents with housing benefits, employment and immigration issues. Assisted Simon with policy matters including Education Maintenance grant and a review of offices expenses
