As Associate Director in the ESG Advisory team at SLR I lead client accounts and projects with a focus on ESG strategy and a particular specialism in environmental (climate change and nature) issues. I also have the pleasure of being a team lead with 10 reports. SLR is a technical environmental consultancy, 3,500 strong across 90 countries. Marrying disciplines such as ESG advisory, energy advisory, Ecology, Transport & planning we make sustainability happen.I joined SLR as part of the Carnstone acquisition - Carnstone was acquired by SLR in May 2023, and our employment formally transferred over in June 2024.

Carnstone is a globally operating management consultancy that specialises on sustainability, helping companies and governmental agencies incorporate sustainability in business strategy from offices in London and Shanghai.

The Expert Group on Global Climate Obligations of Enterprises is a group of distinguished lawyers and academics from all around the world that has formulated the Climate Principles for Enterprises. These principles aim to discern what enterprises and investors are legally bound to do to stem the tide of climate change based on an amalgamation of legal sources (mainly international, human rights, environmental and tort law).For the Expert Group, I:- Researched topics including the physical effects of climate change, socially responsible investing and corporate information disclosure - Contributed to editing the 300-page commentary (published by Eleven)- Processed feedback from the Expert Group together with the Reporter- Prepared for and joined high-level meetings with external parties- Designed a website for the promotion of the Climate Principles for Enterprises using Wordpress, which I will continue to administrate (see link below).The Principles and their detailed Commentary will be launched in January 2018 at the University of Amsterdam.

Policy Research at the Food For Life campaign, with a focus on the EU Common Agricultural Policy. Delivered an extensive internal advisory report recommending the FFL campaign on how to engage on climate change / sustainability policy relevant to agriculture.

Tasks included managing the 4-headed board, dividing tasks, helping to organise, create and give trainings (e.g. public speaking, lobbying, rules of procedure workshops), communicate with the Student Association, promote events/conferences, head the application procedures (e.g. reading over lettres of motivation, conducting interviews), selecting the conferences we visit and making sure that the visits to conferences go smoothly and are an enjoyable experience for our delegates.During my tenure, LUCMUN visited:- Hamburg MUN (Hamburg, Germany): 4-7 December, 3 awards- UCU MUN (Utrecht, the Netherlands): 6-8 February, 7 awards (including Best Delegation)- London International MUN (London, UK): February 27 -March 1- MUN Of The Hague (The Hague, the Neterhlands) 24-26 April- EUROMUN (Maastricht, the Netherlands) April 29 - May 3

My two main projects at the ICC are further developing the Campus Ambassador Programme and preparing it for launch in the 2015-2016 academic year and drafting a course about the ICC. As part of these two projects, I occupy myself with:drafting educational material on the ICC and International Criminal Law, researching platforms to use for developing and offering a possible online course, inventing and drafting guidelines for ICC-related events on university campuses, editing the existing Campus Ambassador Programme materials, presenting development to higher management.

As a part of MUNOTH's first executive team, I was tasked with arranging accomodation for its some 100 participants. This involved contacting hotels to negotiate reduced tarriffs for participants of the conference and contacting students to offer couch surfing at their student dorms in The Hague. In the end, I was able to offer 35 students free housing. This helped MUNOTH achieve its objective of being a low-cost conference. I also assisted with registration, monitoring committees, filling in as the Ambassador of Jordan in the Security Council, and organising the pub quiz.

I was chosen to be part of the yearbook redaction by my Dutch teachers because of good social, writing and time management skills. As part of the redaction, I interviewed 6 of my peers and wrote a 500-word article about each. I also helped to draft the standard interview questions and invent fun categories.

As Deputy Secretary-General of the MUN organised by my high school, I had multiple tasks. These included deciding on the issues to be debated, reviewing Student Officer (chair) applications and selecting our Student Officer team, attracting guest speakers, preparing the Student Officers through an extensive chairing workshop, assisting with the management of the Executive Staff, and briefing and debriefing the Student Officers during the conference.
