About Daniel Woods
I am very passionate about the entertainment industry, starting when I was just 12 in the summer of 2006, when my parents put me into a summer theatre camp near where we lived in South Jersey. When they came to pick me up at the end of the first day, the first thing I said to them was, "I am so coming back next year." And so I did. And I kept returning to the entertainment industry again and again, all the way through college and beyond.Going to UNC School of the Arts was quite the experience. I met people from all backgrounds and reasons for attending school there. The classes I took challenged me in ways I had never been challenged before. Drawing, Color and Design, and Lighting Design I were the three most challenging courses I took, requiring me to think and stretch my mind in a manner that I had never done before. Other classes, such as all of my Stage Electrics courses, were also very challenging, but in a way that made me thirsty for more.About a month before graduating, I signed my contract with RGB Lights. May 11, the day after graduation, I packed up my bags and drove to Chicago to start life in the "real world". Working at RGB has given me a new perspective of the entertainment industry, primarily corporate theatre and permanent installations. It also gave me a look at a mindset outside of UNCSA. Even though I would spend summers working at places different than UNCSA, those summers were always bookended by a school year at UNCSA.Between UNCSA, summer jobs, and RGB Lights, I have picked up some very important skills, such as; Managing and leading a crew of people, reading and understanding light plots and similar schematics, forklift and scissor lift driving, and most importantly, doing the best you can to plan for the unexpected. It's been quite the wild ride so far, and I can't wait to see what the future holds.
Listed skills include Theatrical Production, Vectorworks, Soldering, Etc Consoles, and 10 others.

Master Electrician
I communicated with the designers about the space and what they wanted for their design. Upon receiving the plot, I would talk through any issues with the design with them and the TD with the aim to solve them. In addition to this, it was my responsibility to keep an accurate inventory of the space, as well as train the actors who would help me during changeover.
Electrics Intern
I assisted the Master Electrican with the hang, focus, and running the Obsession II for one show. In addition to that, I assisted the TD and Scene Shop with build and installation of sets. I assisted load-in and load-out for both Electrics and Scenery, depending on where I was needed more.
Master Electrician
I realized the lighting plot for the designer, including hanging, focusing, and programming the lighting console. I also assisted props/scenery when there were electrified props and set pieces. I also oversaw a crew of 2-4 interns during the changeover between two shows, working with scenery to move line sets around, and working with the lighting designer to sort any issues that arrived during the changeover or focus. I was also in charge of designing the lights for the children's shows that happened in the mornings.
