This is an internship organized through the Hinckley Institute at the University of Utah where I listen to court hearings and takes notes corresponding to what each individual case pertains to.

Liberty in North Korea (LINK) is a non-profit organization run through the University of Utah where we fundraise and increase awareness to financially and socially support escaped North Koreans and get them to the United States.

I spend time at this job primarily answering phone calls and questions from members and guests within the JCC. This gives me a lot of opportunity to practice my communication/interpersonal skills on a consistent basis. It's also allowed me focus on my problem solving and independently find the answer to questions I may not immediately know.

While working here I was able to get a lot of practice working under both pressure and time constraints as the restaurant was almost always a busy and semi-hectic environment. The opportunity for guests to be seated and, in turn, servers to make more money was completely dependent on my ability to work fast and recognize where I needed to be across the entire restaurant.

I've played the alto saxophone for over 9 years and during my time in high school as a musician, I participated in Utah's Solo and Ensemble four times (three times as a soloist and once in a saxophone quartet) on both a regional and state level. All four times I performed at region I received the highest score (1) and qualified for state. Three of the times I performed at state I also received a 1 and the saxophone quartet I was a part of got the second highest score (1-) at state.

This was also a good opportunity to work on my time management skills and create an organized work-life balance as I was working roughly 35 hours a week here during the Summer while also managing a second job and volunteering at the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City 8-10 hours every week.
