Hello! I’m Daniel Yong, an experienced Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) interpreter and currently the Project and Community Initiatives Manager at The Singapore Association For The Deaf (SADeaf). In my role, I oversee multiple projects aimed at enhancing accessibility and inclusivity for the Deaf community in Singapore. This includes managing the development and launch of the SADeaf Video Relay Service (VRS) to make phone calls accessible between Deaf and hearing individuals.My career highlights include working with prestigious events such as the National Day Parade and the Coldplay World Tour 2024, providing SgSL interpretation for theatre, concerts, and stage performances. I’ve also offered access consultancy and audio description for various performances. My passion for inclusivity has led me to volunteer as a DeafBlind Intervenor and engage in policy research to enhance Deaf community access services in Singapore.With a background in Digital Media and Computer Engineering, complemented by certifications in Theatre Interpreting, International Sign, and Creative Captioning, I bring a unique blend of skills to impactful access work. Proficient in multiple sign languages, I am dedicated to continuous professional development in the field of sign language interpreting and accessibility.Driven by the belief that access is a fundamental right, I aim to create inclusive environments that enable everyone to fully enjoy cultural experiences.
