About Daniel Zamani
I am a Cambridge-educated art historian and curator with a focus on modern and contemporary art in Europe and the Americas. Since July 2024, I work as Artistic Director and Member of the Board at the Museum Frieder Burda in Baden-Baden. There, I am in charge of our extensive programme in the field of modern and contemporary art, including our forthcoming shows "Poetry of Light: Richard Pousette-Dart" (2025) and "Impressionism in Germany: Max Liebermann and His Times", both scheduled for 2025.Prior to my position at the Museum Frieder Burda, I've worked as Curator and Head of Impressionism at the Museum Barberini in Potsdam (2018-2024) and as Assistant Curator of Modern Art at the Städel Museum in Frankfurt am Main (2015-2017). In addition to my AHRC-funded PhD at Trinity College, I've worked as a supervisor to BA courses in the areas of Medieval Art, Surrealism and Art History.Shows I curated or co-curated include:* Yoshitomo Nara (2024/25)*Maurice de Vlaminck: Modern Art Rebel (2024/5)*Surrealism and Magic: Enchanted Modernity (2022/23) *The Shape of Freedom: International Abstraction after 1945 (2022)*Monet: Places (2020)*Color and Light: The Neo-Impressionist Henri-Edmond Cross (2018/19)*Matisse - Bonnard: 'Long Live Painting'(2017/18)I hold BA, M.Phil and PhD degrees in History of Art & Architecture from Trinity College at the University of Cambridge and an additional MA in Museology from the École du Louvre in Paris. My PhD thesis was funded by a research scholarship from the Arts and Humanities Research Council of Great Britain as well as a Trinity College Graduate Studentship award.
