From Cop to Licensed OpticianAfter a 27-year career in Law Enforcement which ended in a PTSD diagnosis, I traded my police equipment for slit lamps and keratometers. Returning to school at age 53, I graduated with honours from Stenberg College's Optician Diploma Program in May 2023, retired from the Saanich Police Department in June after passing my NACOR exams, and started working part-time at Royal Oak Optometry in July as a Licensed Refracting Optician and Licensed Contact Lens Fitter. "And suddenly, you just know it's time to start something new, and trust the magic of beginnings."
