Under the Department of Conservation and Recreation, the Massachusetts Park Ranger Mounted Unit functions as park stewards to educate the public about the agency’s various recreational opportunities, as well as to protect natural resources for present and future generations. The Mounted Park Rangers are utilized not only for park patrol in many diverse areas throughout the Commonwealth in eastern Mass - such as the Blue Hills Reservation, Old Harbor Reservation/Castle Island, Charles River Reservation/Esplanade, in southern Mass – such as Myles Standish State Forest, Nickerson State Park, in northern Mass – such as Middlesex Fells Reservation, Bradley/Palmer State Park, Maudsley State Park, in central Mass – such as Callahan State Park, Upton State Forest, in western Mass – such as Mt. Greylock State , October Mountain State Forest, Pittsfield State Forest, along state beaches – such as Nantasket Beach in Hull, Revere Beach in Revere, Carson Beach in South Boston, also can be seen at public celebrations, educational programs, and ceremonial events.The DCR Massachusetts Park Ranger Mounted Unit was established in 1997 and operates from their Mounted Unit Headquarters & Stable located in Milton at the Blue Hills Reservation.

The Guild runs a School of Labor-Management Relations offering classes in labor law, collective bargaining, steward training, union governance, parliamentary procedure, public speaking, organizing, labor history, and the philosophy of unionism. The school has provided labor education for more than 30,000 workers, including more than 50 international union presidents and all the presidents of Massachusetts’ state labor councils since WWII.
