At this company I was responsible for managing over $2M of residential remodeling projects, from planning through to completion. I planned and oversaw the safe and successful demolition, structural framing, mechanicals, and quality installation of interior and exterior finishes in collaboration with a highly competent team of architectural and interior designers, and craftsmen. At Downingtown Rock Gym, I share over 20 years experience in multiple disciplines of rock and ice climbing to provide my clients strategies and systems to achieve their gravity defying goals. Topics of instruction include efficient body mechanics, belay and rope work techniques pertaining to safety systems, risk management, and equipment selection, maintenance, and sales. I maintain a Lead Climbing Wall Instructor certification (CWI-L), American Mountain Guides Association Single Pitch Instructor certification, and ARC certifications for Pediatric and Adult CPR/AED/First Aid. I am an active member of the Access Fund and The American Alpine Club. I support the community locally as a volunteer ambassador and mentor with the Philadelphia Chapter of the American Alpine Club and have worked with several Access Fund Conservation Teams and the Eastern PA Alliance of Climbers on trail work projects in the region. I aspire to continue developing more efficient technical skills and experience guiding in vertical terrain, proficiency in rescue systems, and to educate in the outdoor classroom with Leave No Trace ethics.

Sharing my expertise on the spectrum of residential construction trades with daily changing, primarily unskilled, volunteer crews, I ensured a safe job site to produce quality, energy efficient homes that met or exceeded all standard building requirements. In addition to assessing, instructing, and managing the abilities and social dynamics of a volunteer workforce, I was responsible for planning and purchasing of materials as needed to keep the different stages and systems involved in home construction, advancing forward on a non-profit budget.The most reward comes from not only successfully building decent, affordable homes for hard-working, low income families, but community, stability and self-reliance, allowing the next generation a safe and secure opportunity to thrive. In this role I performed general contracting services on residential renovations and property management/maintenance. During this time, I enjoyed a variety of tasks, including but not limited to the installation of: windows, siding, roofing, decking, exterior finishes, insulation, drywall, laminate and tile flooring, painting, electrical finishes and appliances, and interior trim carpentry. There was also a large amount of deconstruction skills and planning developed in this role, frequently extracting unique and high value building materials for sustainable re-use.

As a Systems Analyst I designed new products and features that would give our clients the most efficient and useful online vehicle inventory marketing software available. This was accomplished through soliciting the needs of internal and external client users, and business development leaders, for whom I would develop and document solutions in the form of business requirements, process flows, navigation maps, wireframes, and permissions matrices. As the liaison between business and technology, I was responsible for presenting and supporting these business solutions to programmers for implementation, to quality assurance for test case creation, and product owner's acceptance. Whenever a new iteration of the product evolved, I investigated and documented system functionality with a gap assessment between old and new versions of the flagship product, providing recommendations for minimizing the learning curve of the user’s daily work flow at launch time.

In this role I served primarily as a scrum master in an Agile development framework for a team of 15 software developers + 5 quality assurance engineers, managing the backlog, facilitating sprint planning, daily scrum meetings, and sprint reviews to advance the timely completion of the product milestones. My past technical experience with database and software development tasks proved an asset towards understanding and more effectively resolving team member's daily roadblocks and an awareness of realistic development goals for accurate timeline planning. In my position as manager at Vertical Extreme, I wore many hats while ensuring a safe, friendly, and welcoming experience to our customers whose often first experience with the sport and community is at an indoor gym. I handled all service and retail counter transactions from daily admissions, group bookings and staffing, as well equipment sales. As an instructor, in addition to general climbing technique, I provided safety orientations, belay instruction and competence testing, assisting on outdoor outings as well. I performed all ongoing maintenance tasks around the facility in the form of route setting, daily housekeeping, and marketing our services and programs as the webmaster. I am proud to have maintained an injury free environment and welcome hundreds into the community I am so passionate about.

In the early 2000s, RockClimbing.com was THE online community space for rock climbers of all disciplines from bouldering, to sport, trad, and big wall climbing. As a web developer, I maintained and wrote custom feature additions to enable the open sharing of climbing related resources on a vast array of discussion forums as well as the most vast route database available online, a gear guide review platform, the most inspiring user submitted photos and video, as well as articles and news. I served during this time also as a site administrator, forum moderator, photo editor, and gear columnist for the monthly e-newsletter, SPRAY! Our grassroots work on this site was the first of it's kind to develop an international community of resources available shared by the most veteran to the modern climber on the internet and has paved the way for many other prominent sites online today.

QVC is a unique business in that it is a wildly successful international retailer that broadcasts and sells it's consumer products on television and online, 24/7/364, and as such requires some very interesting custom software to handle this volume so efficiently. Within the large IT department, I worked on the TV and Corporate Applications team, developing real-time interactive web interfaces for an internal IT project management system. I also supported the opening of a new 'brick and mortar' Savor Jewelry concept store, designing and writing a system to automate the retrieval of inventory pricing data and printing mass quantities of security tag labels.

Johnson & Johnson Family of CompaniesNoramco is a producer of narcotic active pharmaceutical ingredients and therefore highly regulated by several agencies including the FDA and DEA across many facets of their operations. I handled a variety of tasks in the information management area, mainly in regards to technical documentation, writing qualification testing procedures for software system upgrades to ensure they met compliance. I also developed and coded a data migration plan for transitioning into a new enterprise asset management system. My time here instilled in me the skills and value of writing comprehensive and accurate technical documentation to ensure consistent procedures with repeatable results.

Teleflex is a multi-national manufacturer with products in the turbine, automotive, marine, and medical device industries. In my time here I worked on the corporate IT team to support the development of an internal network portal for resource sharing among the 180+ entities spread around the world. I was exposed to a tremendous variety of systems that when designed accordingly integrate efficiently from server side scripting and processes, to database development and stored procedures, to front end schemas and interface style transformations. This was my first opportunity to work professionally in a major corporate environment with daily international communication and to provide a tool to tie them together with the help of many esteemed mentors was an excellent experience.

SIA was a software shop in Livingston, Scotland that wrote specialized control software for turbine systems manufactured by Teleflex. I was sent abroad to work more directly with the software team to develop the Global Knowledge Network, an electronic resource sharing portal utilized by among 180+ international entities of the company. Lots of tea served as a welcome break between long hours of highly technical coding sessions on a cutting edge XML database framework. The data organization and manipulation techniques learned here, as well as the exposure to cultures abroad proved to be an invaluable experience that continues to provide perspective and flexibility to see both big picture and detail alike.
