Daniel Collet originally joined IBM France as a Systems Engineer in 1974 working for the General Systems Division in the Rhone-Alpes region, before moving to Sales & Marketing in Milan, Italy, and then in La Gaude near Nice. In 1987 he joined Digital Equipment Corporation as European Business Development Manager. With DEC, he became GSM Business Manager responsible for developing and implementing the EMEA go-to-market strategy; setting up industry alliances and building up DEC's original GSM portfolio. During his time with Digital, Daniel also had the exciting mission of setting up a local operation in Johannesburg, South Africa, establishing key customers such as Telkom, Vodacom and MTN. He then became the Global Account Manager at DEC for the Alcatel account.In 1997 Daniel joined Telcordia Technologies, formerly Bellcore, as Vice President for Global Accounts; after setting up the European major account management operations in Sophia Antipolis, France, he joined Ericsson as Vice President of Sales EMEA, based in Aarhus, Denmark. With Ericsson he was responsible for the integration of sales and marketing for Ericsson's Telebit operations and managed the acquisition of the IPv6 networking portfolio.
