Postdoctoral Research Associate
I am currently studying the large GTPase atlastin, which is responsible for catalyzing homotypic fusion of the endoplasmic reticulum. Through this work, I first authored a paper demonstrating that GTP hydrolysis is not required for atlastin mediated membrane fusion. Additionally, I am utilizing in vitro reconstitution experiments to decipher how protein-protein interactions affect atlastins fusion activity.

Biological Sciences Phd Candidate
As a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon, I successfully reconstituted human atlastin 1/2 into synthetic vesicles and demonstrated they are bona fide fusion proteins. Through this work, I also discovered a novel autoinhibitory regulation of the human atlastins by their c-terminus. I was able to develop expertise in protein purification and in vitro reconstitution assays.
