At Cisco, my focus as a Software Engineer in the realm of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) revolves around ensuring resilient platform operations. My role encompasses leading critical incident responses, automating operational workflows, and enhancing system flexibility through the use of technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes. With a strong commitment to operational excellence, I have successfully managed the phasing out of legacy systems, facilitated seamless transitions for our customers, and upheld stringent Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance standards. Collaborating with third-party vendors, our team has reinforced integration processes, bolstering system uptime and reliability across diverse platforms.Prior to Cisco, I worked for the US Government at various locations and in various roles. These have included working as a system developer to serving and a technical lead and even as an educator. These experience have allowed me to gain exposure to different perspectives, objectives, and even cultures. Such diversity has greatly improved my own abilities to not only manage systems, but also build team consensus and capabilities.I have found the most joy in such roles where I am able to enable and strengthen others. This includes mentoring, training, leading, and providing resources to both immediate coworkers and those in different departments. I feel that the work I have done in such positions has a multiplicative effect. Having done it well, I have seen directly the result of these actions - to include higher reliability, faster system operations, and quicker response and resolution of issues when they do develop.
