Open Road is a Marketing-as-a-Service company that connects publishers' books with an audience of 3 million readers through a variety of channels and programs. My role was to manage all business for the company's “Activation” program, which is built around frontlist advertising.In short, I sold advertising to and arranged partnerships with publishers so they could drive discoverability and sales of their new titles. I also expanded those services to the indie author community.The principal forms of advertising I sold were traditional display options (website ads, dedicated emails, etc.), various types of sponsored content (articles, listicles, etc.) and deal promos for down-priced books. For publishers with larger budgets, I also planned and managed multi-platform ad campaigns that targeted the right readers for each title.In 2021, my first full year at Open Road, I increased revenue for this business line by 68% YoY. In 2022, I increased revenue YoY by close to 50%.
