I worked mostly with archival and archaeological artefacts that were kept in the BIA offices in Anchorage, describing and cataloguing them for further study. I organized the library in the lab by moving the non-sensitive books into the main office area and the rare-books/sensitive materials were reorganized on the shelves in the lockable lab. I went through the archaeological material and described it box by box and input the data into a spreadsheet for tracking and research purposes. I also contacted tribal, religious and law enforcement during my time at the BIA to locate historical records and materials needed for reports and tracking of final dispositions of the deceased. I identified species to genus and family where I could and investigated osteological material to ensure that it was zoological not human. When I was unable to determine what something was, I would ask for clarification from tribal elders who were more familiar with the usage of archaeological materials than myself. One of the things I value (and miss) most about this position was that I was able to work directly with the Alaskan indigenous tribal people and the immersion in native Alaskan culture I experienced.
