Since its inception in 1967, Hospitality magazine has been a trusted and valued source of information for the food service sector. My role as editor involves overseeing the creation and publication of news pieces and in-depth feature articles for the magazine, its website and its twice weekly e-newsletter.I am also responsible for the promotion of Hospitality, whether it be online, via social media or at industry events and trade shows.

Chatswood

While in this role, I managed the publication of content for both Hospitality and Food magazine. Managing a team of three journalists, I was responsible for the publication of each print magazine, as well as their respective websites (updated daily with relevant news), and the creation and distribution of their e-newsletters.I was also responsible for the promotion of both brands, whether it be online, via social media or at industry events and trade shows.I was also heavily involved in the planning, promotion and execution of the annual Food Magazine Awards. This included collecting nominations, organising the judging panel, recruiting guest speakers and publishing relevant news on Food's website and social media platforms.

Food magazine provides analytical, feature driven content directly related to the concerns and interests of food and beverage manufacturers in production and technical roles. It is a B2B magazine with seven magazines published a year, as well as a website updated daily with relevant news articles, product showcases, feature articles and industry Q&As.Key responsibilities included:• Planning, allocating, researching and writing interesting and relevant articles for food and beverage manufacturers (for both print and online)• Promoting Food magazine via Facebook and Twitter• Writing, compiling and distributing twice-weekly e-newsletters• Organising the annual Food Magazine Awards night• Managing client relationships• Attending industry events and trade shows• Overseeing production of the magazine, from flatplan to design

Hospitality magazine is a monthly title with an accompanying website and e-newsletter, offering daily news and in-depth features on industry trends across hospitality’s key pillars: foodservice, beverage and management. Franchising magazine is a bi-monthly consumer title aimed at provided prospective franchisees with all the information they require before investing in a brand.This role required exceptional multi-tasking skills as I was working for both titles at the one time, regularly managing multiple deadlines simultaneously, while at the same time learning about and reporting on two completely different industries.Key responsibilities included:• Planning, researching and writing interesting and relevant articles • Attending industry events and trade shows• Overseeing a website redesign• Sub-editing• Writing, compiling and distributing e-newsletters• Promoting both titles on social media• Regularly communicating with business owners, marketing managers and PR managers.

I worked part time at Mullane’s Pharmacy while completing my studies.Key responsibilities included:• Cash handling• Providing customer service - dealing directly with customers during point of sale and distribution of prescriptions• Balancing of cash and receipts• Dispensing prescriptions• Ordering both medication and other retail products including gifts and first aid products• Delivering prescriptions to nursing homes house-bound customers• Rostering staff and overseeing the training of junior staff members.
