I have taught English Language Arts for 25 years and in four different states. I have taught every grade from 7-12 including pre-AP, AP Language, AP Literature, and IB Language A courses. Teaching involves many skills, all of which I used to plan for and produce student results: team leadership, content development, presentation skills, sales, marketing, counseling, behavior management, conflict resolution, writing, editing, and more. Teachers many skills that would transfer nicely to other industries.

Taught college writing courses through Salt Lake Community College to students in high school. College Board AP Literature Reader. 2021-present. Led collaborative efforts to create a rigorous and effective common curriculum, along with common benchmarks and summative assessments to measure growth and achievement across the district. Taught courses which focus on college-prep writing with a focus on rhetoric (analysis and writing) and research. Course includes a rigorous summative senior capstone research project with a central requirement of a lengthy research argument paper. Served as the district leader for development and refinement of this district-wide requirement and represented our school on the district focus group which revisits and updates project requirements to reflect changing modes of instruction and to integrate modern technologies and learning tools.
