Very early on, she displayed focus and eagerness to take on the rigors of student teacher. She had a great teacher-student rapport. She took pains to balance instruction between native/heritage-speakers and genuine intermediate-level L2 students. Danielle utilized technology (I-phone/android assignments, blog, computer-based alternative assessments, google doc assessments/projects, googledoc spreadsheet for parental contacts) with versatility. Miss Cook regularly responded positively and proactively to feedback. She met challenges head-on, such as differentiating and integrating learners range of levels (heritage/native speakers - struggling L2 learners). I consider Miss Cook to be highly organized and prepared. She arrived early and often stayed after hours. Her lesson plans followed the proper format and were precise and thoughtful. She ensured that technology for students was available on time and ready to go for language lab. She graded assignments in a timely fashion, and updated grades regularly on the online system. Miss Cook always carried herself in a professional manner. She displayed great willingness to learn, cooperate, share ideas. She maintained a firm attitude and an even tone when communicating with students. Miss Cook had an affable manner with students. She made regular use of inclusive strategies. She also addressed real differentiation concerns, as discussed above. She had an affinity for adapting 'standard' Spanish projects and made them more connected to learners and more 21st century (Spanish Facebook page, Advertisement for Future Business, Graduation Party Invitation). These made solid connections with our students who were mostly upper classmen, and thinking about their next steps after high school. Additionally, Danielle was quick and discreet about addressing behavioral concerns. She included parents in the discussion about student behavior and making appropriate solutions. She stayed for Parent-Teacher Night and report-card conferences during her internship. She wanted parents to know she was an active and approachable presence in their children's classroom. I would absolutely work with Miss Danielle Cook again, for all of the reasons mentioned above. Her dedication, optimism, fortitude, versatility, creativity, adaptability, approachability, honesty and zeal as an educator are worthy of utmost praise and esteem, and greatly needed in the urban academic arena in whatever capacity to which she is called.
