As a library assistant I give high quality customer service answering a multitude of different queries from the general public whilst also undertaking stock rotation, and ensuring the library has engaging displays to promote different books and genres to members of the public. I am also well practiced at helping members of the public on the library computers whenever they have difficulties, whilst keeping a friendly and supportive manner. I also help to run the library social media page (Instagram) which showcases the library events and promotes books. To keep the social media page looking professional media is created using Canva. My job also involves working with children of all backgrounds doing different jobs such as Baby and Toddler Bounce and Rhyme, planning and setting up kids craft events, summer holiday story time. I also help promote reading to children that struggle in reading. There is also creating events for the general public to promote the library and create a community hub. These events include but are not limited to Coffee mornings, art workshops, and charity music events for the local area.

My duties consist of opening and closing the gift shop, ensuring the shop is well stocked and doing stock checks. I am therefore familiar with balancing the till at the beginning and close of each day and stock control.

My role at the trust covered a range of customer facing roles and I have achieved a level 2 NVQ in customer service. The departments I worked in during my time at Quarry Bank Mill were; Visitor Welcome/ Membership Team, Education, Retail and Catering. I work both with volunteers and staff delivering great customer service to a broad range of visitors and ensure that they have a great day.
