Registered nurse (BN), MPH, GC adult acute care nursing, GC paediatric critical care nursing.Over 25 years of clinical nursing experience in the NSW health care system. Current role: Lecturer in Nursing at the University of Technology Sydney.Higher degree research interests: Simulation Based Education, GenAI and Digital Technologies in Sim, and exploring the impact this may have on student nurses learning experiences. Current research study in collaboration with the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network exploring Paediatric nurses’ knowledge and attitudes to pressure injuries and pressure injury prevention.Previous research involving Adolescent health and wellbeing; Cleft and Craniofacial, Young adult transition into adult healthcare services.In 2017 I had the opportunity to work as the first ever clinical nurse consultant for cleft and craniofacial surgery at Sydney Children's Hospital in Randwick NSW, where I was responsible for coordinating the on-going care and support of children living with facial differences, and their families. It was such an honor to take on this position, and it was a privilege to work alongside some amazing leaders in paediatric surgery which enabled me to be involved in making positive change in healthcare through dedication to this role.I have over 20 years of paediatric nursing experience working in the Children's Intensive Care Unit at SCH Randwick, where I still work clinically on a casual basis to this day.Prior to this I had 6 years of adult acute care at St George Hospital, and 2 years general intensive care at both St George Hospital and St George Private Hospital.I have been a Guest Lecturer for Western Sydney University as part of the Grad Dip in Children's Health contributing to modules for Cleft Lip and Palate, Craniosynostosis, and Plagiocephaly.Sessional Lecturer at Australian Catholic University for the Bachelor of Nursing 2023.In 2024 I was invited to sit as a committee member for CleftPalsNSW, in the role of Nurse Advocate. Here I can provide non-biased advice and reassurance for parents and families of children living with cleft lip and/or palate, and this is supported by the Plastic Surgeons and Cleft team of Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick.
