Profile bio

About Danielle Gregory

I am an experienced Primary teacher, who has worked across all year groups. Currently, I am working within a one-form entry Catholic primary school in Wigan as Early Years Leader and Reception teacher. I plan and deliver targeted interventions for read, write, inc, reading, maths, social and emotional needs, and to help with cognition and retention. I carefully bridge gaps in the children’s learning through continuous assessment. All my lessons are carefully planned using Individual learning plans, the development matters document, and the early learning goals to ensure progress is made by all children and their personal targets are achieved. Alongside this I am subject leader for science within early years and plan collaboratively with other teachers, share resources, and ideas to improve science and understanding the world within early years. I ensure experiments are incorporated into other subject areas to arouse excitement and create memorable learning. This has improved the children’s critical and creative thinking and provided context for the children to enquire about the world around them.I have introduced Philosophy and talk, which has proved to be greatly successful in improving the children’s questioning skills and creative thinking. I have found the coaching and reflection model for ‘talk’ within the classroom very useful. Within this model I have planned lessons using various techniques to encourage speech and vocabulary within talking lessons. These lessons have been observed by colleagues to provide on the spot coaching and in-depth feedback to then repeat and improve lessons. This collaboration and reflection on practice and outcomes has been invaluable. Using these techniques and adapting them has enabled the children to build confidence when speaking to the class and their peers. The children can formulate their own ideas when answering ‘big questions’. The children will describe the reasons for their answers and build on their peers’ ideas, which leads into deeper and critical thinking. Modelling is an important part in this process to improve speaking and listening skills and for children to create the best outcomes. I break down tasks into easier chunks so that the children do not become overwhelmed, and they understand how best to execute their answers. Further challenges and questions are provided within my lessons to further the children’s progress and achievements. Reading is incorporated into the daily routine, planning and during provision to provide the children with a literacy rich environment.

Listed skills include Photoshop, Rendering, Sketching, Concept Design, and 32 others.
