I am a clinical supervisor and the charge nurse of a 35 bed emergency department in Charlotte, NC. I have 25 direct reports and complete yearly evaluations. I counsel staff when appropriate and effectively handle patient complaints. I manage all patient safety attendants employed within my department and partake in talent acquisition and assigning their ongoing scheduled work shifts. Other duties specific to my role include updating and maintaining the attendance and counseling record for the department and restrictive intervention audits and education for nursing and physician staff at CHS University and Huntersville.I am an active member of the Emergency Education Committee and help create competency validations and check off skills for the department each year. I am a member for the Supporting Our Staff (SOS) Committee and help pair mentors/mentees to increase nursing retention and coordinate events quarterly for ED staff to attend. I also attend monthly management and performance improvement meetings and apply this information to the clinical environment. I have certifications in BLS, ACLS & PALS. I also have CPI and Radiation/Decontamination training.
