People describe me as an upbeat, optimistic person who can provide service with a smile. My favorite thing to do is learn new skills and information. I try to apply them in new or unusual ways to improve mine and my clients lives. As a Certified HCA, I started my career in the healthcare industry. Among the transferable skills I gained are: conflict resolution, active listening, deescalating techniques, and keeping calm in emergencies. As a caregiver I aided clients with a variety of cognitive and physical abilities with the goal of maintaining their independence as much as possible, while managing expectations. The position required helping clients plan their day efficiently, complete necessary tasks safely, and guiding them through the healthcare system. Calmly listening and helping clients in mental health crisis, especially with dementia clients was a crucial part of my job. While I loved being able to positively influence clients lives directly, a caregiver is a physically difficult job.For this reason, I am looking for an office or remote based position. I would love to work for a company with advancement opportunities that I can remain at for another 10 years. The knowledge gained from my BS degree in Psychology, minor in Biology, and 10 years of caregiving can easily be applied to such a position. My ability to quickly learn new skills and adapt to new environments means I can learn new software and computer skills.
