Prior to graduation from East Carolina, I have had a passion not only for surgery but also for trauma and critical care. This passion directed my clinical experiences prior to obtaining my masters and my elective rotations as a PA student. It was this passion that also prompted me to accept a position as a Physician Assistant at Wakemed working for a neurosurgical group. I have been fortunate enough to work with my current employer since graduation and I have gained an immense amount of experience, deepening my passion for critical care and trauma. In my current position I am afforded the opportunity to work both independently as well as a member of the health care team in order to provide well rounded care to a variety of patients from different cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. My position requires me to field a plethora of questions from patients and other members of the patient's health care team, respond to emergent and non-emergent pages and calls, as well as to evaluate and treat patients in a variety of settings such as outpatient clinic, the floor, intensive care units, postoperatively, and in the emergency room. I am the primary provider to some patients and act as a consultant to other. I have had the opportunity to perform a variety of procedures both independently and as a first assistant. I am a self-motivated learner who thrives in a busy and challenging environment. I am always looking for opportunities to learn new skills and take on additional responsibility.
