About Danielle Lawson

I have recently finished my studies from the University of Huddersfield and I am now looking to start my career. After taking a year out working at different placements, I realise that I would like to work within a company where I can gain hands on experience. After winning the Huddersfield Textile Society Award-Fashion winner for the most inovative use of Textiles in a Fashion collection, Ideally I would like to work within the textiles, sampling field where I feel this is my strongest area. I have a passion for deconstructing existing items and turning them into completely new one off pieces. Aswell as creating something exciting and new, it is also a much eco-friendly way of designing.I am very creative and love to try new things. After assisting the marketing team in a knitwear company, I found myself inspired and taught myself how to use a knitting machine which led me to knit the majority of my final major collection.I also love to travel and it is my ambition to work abroad, preferably in Canada or America.

I spent the summer travelling to 6 Festivals including Glastonbury, Isle of Wight, Leedsand Bestival. At the Festivals I helped set up the shops, organised briefings, running a team of staff and making sure the shop was always fully stocked. At Leeds I worked alongside the marketing team setting up textile workshops. Duties in the Huddersfield shops included sorting through donations and picking the right stock for the shop, merchandising, customer service and general retail tasks.
