Hello! I’m Danielle Mapes, and I currently serve as a Program Manager for Events Management and Learning Spaces with the GLS Operations Team at Microsoft (under contract through GP Strategies). In my role, I support a variety of internal events by coordinating with stakeholders and suppliers, integrating AI technologies, and developing standardized processes to streamline operations. I manage relationships with external suppliers, provide strategic advice on event planning, and implement cost-saving strategies while promoting the use of centrally-funded services and internal spaces. My approach is always people-first, working in a collaborative team to deliver high-quality, memorable experiences in cutting-edge learning environments.Before joining my Microsoft team, I held multiple directorial roles in local arts organizations here in the Puget Sound. In these roles, I expanded my focus to include event management, organizing everything from art showcases and community events to makers markets and educational programs. These roles helped me blend creativity with business acumen and deepened my passion for community building, diversity, and inclusion. I developed and expanded a robust education program, spearheaded a social learning initiative for career development in the arts, and created impactful marketing strategies and community engagement models.My journey began with 13 years in the service industry, where I worked in nearly every restaurant position you can imagine. This foundation gave me a strong work ethic, the ability to connect with diverse people, and valuable skills in multitasking and managing high-pressure situations. Oh, and I make a divine Manhattan!Outside of work, I love gardening with my son. This passion has inspired my latest project: developing a globally-aware gardening app using AI. This venture combines my interests in creativity, community building, sustainability, and practical problem-solving with new technology.
