Led a team of 12 Key Account Managers and program staff to ensure excellent customer service, reliable power, and fair rates for Austin Energy’s largest customers, which account for over $500 million in annual revenue. Acted as a liaison between commercial and industrial customers and all sections of the utility, and resolve customer escalations. Communicated to executive audiences regarding utility strategy, power quality and reliability issues, rate changes, regulatory updates, program offerings and energy emergencies. Supported economic development efforts to attract large customers to the Austin area and meet their energy requirements. Develop and deliver products to meet customers’ needs, including power quality, energy efficiency, district energy, green power and resiliency offerings. Negotiate and execute contracts with customers for specialty electric service and products.Developing Resiliency offering to meet reliability needs of critical load customers and key community assets, while creating shared value for all customers through strategic deployment of the fast-response generation (natural gas generators and storage) for market participation. Lead cross-utility working group to drive internal product development and secure support and approvals. Develop customer offering, vendor requirements, negotiate contract terms, identify interconnection and telemetry requirements, navigate ERCOT market opportunities and interconnection requirements, ensure regulatory compliance, stakeholder buy in, customer engagement and program enrollment.

Oversaw the municipally-owned utility’s distributed generation and green power programs, including the wind-based GreenChoice program, Community Solar program, rooftop solar incentive programs, solar code and interconnection inspections, solar rate and policy development, and supporting DER integration onto the grid.

Renewable energy policy development, public outreach, research, market development and technology deployment in the city’s private sector. Co-chair Mayor’s Renewable Energy Taskforce and develop plan to achieve 100% renewable electricity supply for San Francisco. Coordinate with other City departments and government agencies to provide technical assistance and facilitate implementation of energy programs and best practices. Liaise with renewable energy industry, community stakeholders and government agencies regarding renewable energy market development. Drive solar market development through streamlined permitting and innovative financing mechanisms.
