As an engineering team leader I have responsibility of both the Power Cylinder, Crank, Rod and Gear subsystem team and the Lube and Cooling team. The groups primarily have ownership of components on 19L, 23L, and 30L diesel engine programs for new product introduction to meet TierIV emissions. In total the teams I lead are made up of about 10 full time team members, spanning both US and India with an achieved targeted split of about 50% representation. Diversity is key to our success, with that, in addition to the global nature of our team we have also currently achieved an equal representation of men and women on these teams. Responsibility for both design (CAD based creation and analytical evaluation) and product validation (specification and evaluation of on engine or rig testing) reside within my teams in order to take a component from design to production phase. Along that path, the team also manages component failures during the validation phase for which root cause must be identified and addressed (iteration within the release process).
