The project seeks to foster and deepen a sense of shared identity between the ports and enhance heritage tourism through the creation of a new tourism network. Ports, Past and Present is funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Ireland Wales Co-operation Programme. This site of living heritage draws inspiration from the life of Nano Nagle, the founder of the Presentation Sisters who worked tirelessly for the poor in Cork in the 18th century and whose influence continues today. It is a busy place of learning and leisure, of spirituality and reflection, where the work and worship of the Presentation Sisters continues. Nano Nagle Place operates as a private, not-for-profit, company (limited by guarantee) and registered charity.As Programme Manager I was responsible for managing the museum, programming, communications, digital, learning, the management of various projects, and managed various relationships. I managed accreditations, including the Museum Standards Programme for Ireland (Nano Nagle Place just achieved Interim Accreditation) and Sustainable Travel Ireland's sustainability accreditation. I applied for and was granted funding from The Heritage Council, The Arts Council, CREATE, Failte Ireland, The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media, Cork City Arts Office, Creative Ireland and the Nagle Solidarity Fund. I also applied for various awards, including the European Museum of the Year Awards, from which Nano Nagle Place achieved the Council of Europe Museum Prize for 2022. I also managed a number of city wide projects, these were the Playful Culture Trails for 2021 and 2022, and the recent Heritage Council Community Funding project for which we created a suite of new resources for Cork museums, galleries and attractions specifically for early years and neurodiverse visitors.
