Change Healthcare was acquired by Optum.I am currently in charge of rebranding our complex 100+ component enterprise design system from Change Healthcare to Optum branding. Additionally, I continue to optimize and maintain the design system to support the many products designed and developed by the Optum Insights team, contribute to the high level direction of the design system, as well as provide guidance to designers using and contributing to our design library.Notable contributions:Formulating and executing a phased approach to rebranding our extensive component library. This included working with the existing Design Standards team to meet brand standards for components Change had that didn’t exist in the Optum design system, learning Optum’s design token system and adapting them to our components, collaborating with our new Optum design standards peers and leadership to establish new tokens when necessary, and annotating our components to communicate the new styles to our devs for implementation.

I was in charge of optimizing and maintaining the design system to support hundreds of products designed and developed by the Change Healthcare team. This includes facilitating cross-team collaboration meetings, creating tickets for and supporting the development team, adding and optimizing components in the design library on Figma, overseeing other designers' contributions to the design system, auditing the existing design system to ensure usability and compliance, and updating design system documentation to reflect current states as well as incoming changes.Notable contributions:Introducing an intake process for requesting additions to the design library, ensuring all components and patterns contribute to global solutions and add value to the user.Creating a design Kanban board in Jira and onboarding a team of designers to improve visibility for large design efforts, track progress, and improve communication with the development team.Creating and standardizing a design documentation template in Figma to help establish one source of truth for each of our components and patterns.
