The primary purpose of the position is to implement the application and training of Lean Manufacturing System, to reduce waste and improve efficiency throughout the job site. Develop and maintain all controlled documents to ensure all jobs are performed safely and efficiently. Other job duties are: Develop 2000+ Documents (SOPS, SPL, Polices, Procedures, Trouble Shooting Guides etc.) and maintain all controlled documents across the plantUpdate Plant Intranet site with new and revised documentationDevelop OpEx Packages for every job position in every department of the plantOrganize and help facilitate kaizens throughout the job siteConduct problem solving trainingDevelop operator routines throughout the job siteDevelop standards for Total Productive Maintenance throughout the job siteDevelop standard operating proceduresConduct 5s training Lead 5s projects threw out the plantAssist with collage recruiting and on site candidate interviews

The Alcoa Business System (ABS) is based on the Toyota Production System of Lean Manufacturing which provides a common language and unencumbered transfer of knowledge across the business. It focuses on serving customer demand by emphasizing the elimination of all waste and making what the customer wants, when the customer wants it.The primary purpose of this position was to eliminate waste and increase efficiency in the process area of the plant by applying ABS principles and teaching other employees how to apply these ABS principles. Other responsibilities were: •Plan ABS initiatives in cooperation with ABS Mgr •Train and coach individuals and departments in ABS principles•Organize and prepare ABS events•Follow up on past initiatives•Perform Gemba walks with department leadership and employees•Lead, coach, facilitate problem solving, 5S, connections and Kaizen events•Promote A3 thinking, provide support in A3 development•Daily Management•Standardized work•Rules in use•Ensure PDCA(Plan, Do, Check, Act) is performed in all improvement projects•Document and track ABS metrics•Create SWIs (Standard Work Instructions)

The Process Area Operators duties include operating various equipment ensuring the process flow through various line-ups and valve swaps for optimum production.

The Plant Utility Operators duties include operating various equipment and performing miscellaneous de-scaling and laborer type activities associated with the process of alumina.
