Extensive experience in personal injury, property liability and professional indemnity, having advised and defended actions under the Civil Liability Act NSW (2002), workplace accident claims, compensation to relatives claims, recovery actions under the Workers Compensation Act 1974 (NSW) and catastrophic injury cases as well as high value construction disputes and claims in contract/negligence against professional insureds including health care providers, solicitors and barristers, financial advisers, real estate agents, certifiers and accreditors. In the context of casualty claims, I have acted and defended claims against shopping centre operators, owners and occupiers, construction contractors, host employers and cleaners. My experiences includes acting in complex property damage litigation involving allegations of defective design and repair/maintenance. I provide considered indemnity advice to insurers and have defended and pursued subrogated recovery actions on behalf of insurers. My past and current client base includes local, interstate and international insurers, brokers, claims managers and self-insured corporations. I appreciate, and am cognisant of, the demands and challenges facing clients. My focus is on ensuring legal service standards and commercial expectations are met, providing timely and pragmatic advice with realistic reserving and adopting a cost effective and proactive strategy. Having conducted litigation in various Australian jurisdictions, as well as appellate Courts, I regularly appear at settlement conferences and mediations and have managed numerous Coronial Inquests, SafeWork investigations and prosecutions and disciplinary inquiries and hearings.
